New digital influencers from Rio receive certification from the City Hall

Eight profiles were selected to receive certification from the City of Rio - Fabio Motta/City of Rio Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes and Municipal Secretary of Tourism Daniela Maia presented the Rio Digital Influencer 5 seals to the winners of this year's selection on Thursday afternoon (6/2025). In a ceremony held at the City Palace in Botafogo, the following Brazilians received their certification: @drone.cyrillo, @feandaporai, @girodacarioca, @humbertobaddini, @rioportodos and @ulysses_padilha; Argentinean @rioparaargentinos; and Englishman @nicknobrasil.
During the ceremony, Eduardo Paes also received the Rio Digital Influencer seal for his digital influence on social media. The mayor's Instagram profile currently has more than 872 thousand followers.
– This team of people here plays a fundamental role in a very important economic activity in the city, which is tourism. They sell Rio de Janeiro and spread images of the city around the world. I feel proud to see an Englishman who is passionate about the experience of Rio’s civilization. This not only helps the economic activity of tourism to promote the city, but also makes the people who are there understand that this is a very special city. On behalf of the people of Rio, I thank you for loving this city and showing that love – said Eduardo Paes.
In its third edition, the Rio Digital Influencer seal accepted applications from foreigners for the first time. Each of the eight selected candidates has a loyal and engaged audience of at least 100 followers, including all the social networks (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, LinkedIn and others) on which they have an account, one of the main criteria for this year's selection. In addition, candidates also had to be over 18 years old and live in Brazil.
– It was a surprise for me, I was very happy. I'm from São Paulo, but I'm living in Rio, a place I love. I enjoy taking pictures of the city, of Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain. Rio is a place where the planet comes from – said Ricardo Cyrillo, who had great success with his drone images at the Lady Gaga concert, on Copacabana Beach.
About to complete five years as a resident of Rio de Janeiro, Englishman Nick Whincup said it was an honor to receive the Rio Digital Influencer seal.
– I never imagined that I would win this award and be part of this group that talks about the best city in the world. I am very happy, Rio is an incredible city, it has so many things, culture, food, beaches, nature. There is a vibe here that is very difficult to explain. I have traveled to more than 40 countries in the world, two hundred cities, but for me this is the best. I am English, my family and friends are far from here, but Rio is so incredible that I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I have no words, neither in English nor in Portuguese, to explain the feeling I have today.
The seal is granted by the City of Rio, through the Municipal Department of Tourism, to influencers whose work promotes and promotes tourism in the city. The selection took place online between April 9 and May 8, and the results were published in the May 28 edition of the Official Gazette of the City of Rio de Janeiro.
– Since 2021, we have identified that we naturally had influencers talking about the city. So we decided to create Rio Digital Influencer. It is an endorsement, a support for all these influencers who talk about Rio. They show various aspects, places, and events in the city of Rio – stated Daniela Maia.
The winners will not receive any remuneration or financial incentive, but will represent the city in all its actions and publications, and may be invited to participate in events, shows, festivals and other activities of the Department of Tourism and the City Hall, always acting to promote and publicize the city on their networks.
