With the end of year festivities, job opportunities in Rio’s commerce grow

Public Relations Preparations for Christmas have already begun. And, with an eye on end-of-year sales, businesses are looking for different professionals. The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Department of Labor and Income (SMTE), announced 27 job openings in its partner companies this Monday (11/862). And for those who want to work in sales, there are 27 openings for retail salespeople in the North and South zones and in the Center of Rio.
The jobs are intended for candidates with or without previous experience, including temporary positions, interns and young apprentices. In total, there are 576 positions for general workers and 286 for people with disabilities. And the good news is that there are opportunities in several areas, with permanent jobs as nannies, maids, painters, plumbers, butchers and 30 vacancies for sales promoters.
Among the opportunities for temporary hiring, there are stock assistants, sales assistants, store cashiers, stockers and salespeople, all connected with the rise in jobs in commerce just under a month before Christmas.
– At this time of year, the main focus is on retail sales due to the end-of-year festivities. Therefore, many opportunities arise in the sector. The National Confederation of Commerce (CNC) had already predicted, in September, that this year would have the highest number of temporary hires in the retail sector since 2012. Here in Rio, we are aligned with this trend – stated the municipal secretary of Labor and Income, Everton Gomes.
This week, SMTE is also offering vacancies in selection processes for internships in Pedagogy, Literature, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, International Relations, Marketing, Law, Tourism, Advertising, Gastronomy, Occupational Therapy, Design, Industrial Design, Administration and Logistics for university students. In addition, vacancies are offered for young apprentices (12) in administrative assistant roles, with no experience required. Candidates can apply online. Those who do not have easy access to the internet should go to one of the seven offices of the Workers' Central, at the following addresses: Centro (Av. Presidente Vargas, 1.997, in the CIAD); Campo Grande (Rua Coxilha, s/nº); Engenho Novo (Rua Vinte Quatro de Maio, 931); Ilha do Governador (Estrada do Dendê, 2.080); Jacarepaguá (Av. Geremário Dantas, 1.400, rooms 172 and 173); Santa Cruz (Rua Lopes de Moura, 58) and Tijuca (Rua Camaragibe, 25). They are open from 8 am to 16 pm.
Interested parties must bring their ID, CPF, PIS and resume to register. People with disabilities can send their resume to the email vagaspcd.smte@gmailcom or go to CIAD, a reference in the employability of people with disabilities in the municipality.
