  • In a forum on inclusion, professor warns that only 39,2% of management positions in Brazilian companies are held by women

There is a significant inequality between men and women in the country's labor market. At the Forum Paths to Inclusion — Innovative Strategies in HR, promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income (SMTE), Professor Liliane Furtado, from Coppead-UFRJ, revealed that only 39,2% of management positions in Brazilian companies are occupied by women, compared to 60,8% by men, even though they are the majority of the population (51,5% of Brazilians). According to the researcher, the data comes from the IBGE's Continuous PNAD.

Representatives from 25 institutions, including private companies, public agencies and the third sector, met this Thursday (21/03), in the auditorium of the São Sebastião Administrative Center, in Cidade Nova, to discuss diversity in the job market. During the meeting, cases of incorporation into the job market of historically excluded groups were discussed, such as people with disabilities, the LGBTQIA+ population, black people, young people looking for their first job and workers over 50 looking for a new job.

– What we want to build today is a labor market in partnership, listening to both the institutions that take care of inclusion and the businesspeople, so that we can have a new labor market that guarantees opportunities for everyone – defended the municipal secretary of Labor and Income, Everton Gomes, in the opening panel of the forum.

The secretary recalled SMTE's actions for inclusion through work, such as the Trabalha Rio outpost at the headquarters of Grupo Arco-Íris (Rua da Carioca 45, Centro). There, at the historic NGO that defends the LGBTQIA+ population, every Friday dozens of members of the segment are served, in search of professional opportunities.

Among the authorities present at the forum were the municipal secretary of Inclusion and Religious Diversity of Rio, Sergio Fernandes, the municipal undersecretary for People with Disabilities, Flavia Cortinovis (who explained the partnership between SMTE and SMPD in promoting the employability of PCDs), and Dianduala Nguidi, president of the Committee of Public Policies for Refugees, Immigrants and Stateless Persons of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (Comparm-Rio).
