Inclusion Day: Trabalha Rio registers people with disabilities for job vacancies

Registration will be held at an event at the Rio Planetarium - Disclosure Trabalha Rio will be participating in the Inclusion, More Inclusion and Less Ableism Journey at the Rio Planetarium on Tuesday (5/12). People with disabilities will be able to register for the program run by the Rio Municipal Department of Labor and Income (SMTE). This year, 2.733 jobs were offered to these workers at companies that partner with SMTE.
– According to our Labor Observatory, of the 3.405 referrals for the selection process, only 160 people with disabilities actually found a job. The number is very low. That is why we have intensified our actions in defense of inclusion – explained the municipal secretary of Labor and Income, Everton Gomes.
In addition to the employment and legal assistance desk, there will be lectures, workshops, a theater show and a concert at the Planetarium. All free of charge and aimed at people with disabilities. Registration for participation in the event can still be done on the Instagram profiles of Trabalha Rio (@trabalha.rio), the Municipal Secretariat for People with Disabilities (@smpdrio) and the Planetarium (@planetariodorio).
The Inclusion Journey begins at 9 a.m. And at 10:30 a.m., the public will be invited to embark on a guided tour of the Museum of the Universe. The program also includes raffles, painting and sign language workshops, and, among other lectures, the one on “Supported Employment – Equity Policy for the Labor Inclusion of People with Disabilities,” with undersecretary Flávia Cortinovis, from the Municipal Secretariat for People with Disabilities. The event will also feature a musical performance.
According to the Rio municipal secretary for People with Disabilities, Helena Werneck, the City Hall has been working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, including establishing partnerships with several institutions.
– We work on several fronts in the seven Municipal Reference Centers for People with Disabilities and in the five assisted housing units, through the development of public policies such as Supported Employment, Simple Language and I Protect Myself, for protection against child violence – pointed out the secretary.
The president of the Planetarium Foundation of the City of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Uccelli, states that the institution has been investing increasingly in the democratization of science, education and entertainment.
– The Planetarium has always opened its doors to inclusion. And it is very important that we promote this meeting to discuss ways to expand actions for people with disabilities.
