Rio City Hall offers training course for nannies

These and other questions will be answered on the 13th and 27th at the Rio Planetarium in Gávea, during the new professional training course for babysitters.
Promoted by the Municipal Department of Labor and Income, in partnership with Help Doméstica, the free training is divided into four modules, with assessment tests. The four topics are: the nanny profession; child development from zero to three years old; the importance of breastfeeding; and the sleep routine. The course will take place from 9 am to 16 pm, on the 13th, and from 9 am to 15 pm, on the 27th, at Rua Vice-Governador Rúbens Berardo 100. – Every week, through Trabalha Rio, we offer vacancies for babysitters in different regions of the city. We understand that this profession offers opportunities to those who have little professional experience. However, the responsibility of taking care of children requires ongoing training and improvement – says Everton Gomes, Rio’s municipal secretary of Labor and Income.
For Vanda Silva da Costa, 44 years old and resident of Penha, the course was essential to update herself in the profession.
– It’s good to recycle. It’s never too late to learn new things. And many people don’t have access to information, can’t afford a training course and are looking for a job opportunity – says the nanny, who has been working as a childcare worker for two years.
According to Marcos Bernardes, from Help Doméstica, the partnership between the public sector and the private sector is essential to boost the economy.
– The objective of the course is human development, with a focus on employability. With the support of the department, we have been able to help these women qualify and enter the job market. We want to expand this training, which is a differentiator, and hold a large job fair aimed at these professionals – says Bernardes.
