- Rio and Recife city governments discuss creating a front in defense of green jobs
The city governments of Rio and Recife will share successful experiences in public administration. Rio's municipal secretary of Labor and Income, Everton Gomes, will meet with Recife's deputy mayor, Isabella de Roldão, on Thursday (23/11) in the capital of Pernambuco to discuss the creation of a global front in defense of the creation of green jobs, in respect of the environment and sustainable development.
– Rio has 183 jobs classified as green jobs, around 10% of the country. The Sustainable Development Plan approved in our city predicts that this number will reach 2040% by 40. Given the challenges posed by climate change, it is urgent that we adopt new practices not only in public administration. At the secretariat, we have implemented a program to encourage green jobs and we want other states and countries to learn about this initiative – explained Everton Gomes.
The deputy mayor is responsible for the international agenda of Recife – the capital of the Northeast with the largest number of consulates. In the capital of Pernambuco, Everton Gomes will also learn more about Go Recife, an innovative platform for accessing public services.
– Go Recife is an accelerator of job opportunities and income generation. In addition, the tool offers services aimed at entrepreneurs and training courses. All free of charge. At the Department of Labor and Income, we have Trabalha Rio, for labor intermediation, Empreenda.Rio and Rio+Cursos, for training, but we can expand them with the help of technology – recalled Everton Gomes.
