The City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income and the PROA Institute, offers two thousand development and employability opportunities for low-income youth in Rio de Janeiro in a free online course. Registration for the class that starts in January 2022 is now open this site. With previous classes, the course has already approved more than 4.200 people who were able to improve their skills for the job market, connecting with job vacancies.

– Promoting partnerships focused on professional training and employability is a priority in Mayor Eduardo Paes’ administration. The Department of Labor and Income has contributed significantly to this, as have other municipal agencies, with a view to reducing unemployment and generating jobs and income. We are confident that the city of Rio will regain its economic capacity – highlighted the Secretary of Labor and Income, Sérgio Felippe.

To participate, you must be between 17 and 22 years old, be studying or have completed the 3rd year of high school in a public school and live in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Registration is open until January 14th and classes are expected to start on January 17th, 2022.

The objective of the course is to build solid professionals, who think about their career in a clear and objective way, with self-knowledge and the ability to develop corporately.

– Our arrival in Rio has had a very positive response, where we are already connecting hundreds of young people with opportunities for their first job. We understand the real demands of partner companies, as well as the skills needed for young people to be prepared for these opportunities – said Alini Dal'Magro, CEO of Instituto PROA.

Extra classes

In a 100% digital and free format, the PROA Platform offers classes in Self-Knowledge (20 hours), Career Planning (20 hours), Professional Project (20 hours), Logical Reasoning (20 hours), Communication (20 hours). At the end, students who complete the course will be eligible to participate in selection processes for entry-level positions and first jobs. All students receive a certificate of completion issued by PROA and have access to job openings available in the market.

In addition to the basic course track, PROA will have five technical tracks sponsored by different companies, where they will learn Data Analysis (sponsored by iFood), Retail (Via – Fundação Casas Bahia), Administration (P&G), Logistics (P&G), UX Design (Accenture) and Sales Promotion (BrF).

To connect, young people who have completed high school in public schools and are looking for their first job have free access to the online platform that offers 100 hours of classes with guidance and support from tutors in weekly live meetings.

According to data released by the IBGE, unemployment among young people aged 18 to 24 stood at 31,4% in the 3rd quarter of 2020. This is the highest rate ever recorded. The lack of experience and study opportunities, combined with the pandemic scenario, means that they suffer more from unemployment.
