- Trabalha Rio participates in the 28th LGBTI+ Pride Parade, in Copacabana
Trabalha Rio, the employability and professional qualification program of the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income (SMTE), will participate in the 19th LGBTI+ Pride Parade in Copacabana this Sunday (11/28). Starting at 10 am, the event will be held at Avenida Atlântica, Posto 5, registering the LGBTI+ population and supporters in selection processes for job openings in companies and in Rio+Cursos professional qualification courses, including those focused on entrepreneurship training.
– We know how much the LGBTI+ community has historically been discriminated against in the job market. In Brazil, only 4% of the trans population has formal employment, according to data from the National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals. Among gays, lesbians and bisexuals, although much progress has been made in recent years, there is also discrimination. One of the many paths to exercising citizenship is the right to work. Our aim is to promote the inclusion of those who need it most – explained the municipal secretary of Labor and Income, Everton Gomes.

Since the end of June, SMTE has maintained a Trabalha Rio outpost at the headquarters of Grupo Arco-Íris, in the city center (Rua da Carioca, 45). There, every Friday, from 13 pm to 17 pm, applications for selection processes and qualification courses are also offered, with services specifically geared towards the LGBTI+ community. In addition to these services, document issuance and professional guidance are also offered to workers who seek Trabalha Rio.
