Gianni Gomes during a Trabalha Rio action, on Governador Island - Roberto Moreyra/SMTE Trabalha Rio, in partnership with the Arco-Íris group, is back. Next Friday (23/2), from 13 pm to 17 pm, LGBTQIA+ professionals who are looking for work will be able to register their resumes at Rua da Carioca, 45, in the city center. The Municipal Department of Labor and Income (SMTE) provided 449 services in the four months that the program was in operation specifically for this community.
– After a short interruption due to the end-of-year festivities, Trabalha Rio, in partnership with Arco-Íris, resumes its activities from Monday to Friday, except holidays. A pioneer in the country, the program aims to help the LGBTQIA+ public find a job opportunity in one of our partner companies – said the municipal secretary of Labor and Income, Everton Gomes.
A municipal public servant for 22 years, transgender Gianni Gomes da Silva highlighted the importance of public inclusion policies, as prejudice against the LGBTQIA+ community is still very widespread.
– In addition to having difficulty finding a job, we have to fight to be called by our social name in the workplace.
Before Trabalha Rio, which is specifically aimed at the LGBTQIA+ community, the program will be held at Rua Professora Amélia Pinto Chagas, 6, in Santa Cruz, on Wednesday (21/2), between 10 am and 15 pm. On Saturday (24/2), Trabalha Rio will be held at Paróquia São Sebastião, at Praia da Olaria, 559, in Cocotá. The program on Ilha do Governador will also be held between 10 am and 15 pm.
