The collision occurred near the Mato Alto station, in Guaratiba. The driver of the passenger vehicle suffered minor injuries to her hands. The articulated bus was empty.
This year alone, there have been 44 collisions between motorcycles and cars with BRTs due to lane invasion, illegal turns and running red lights. In 2021, there were 178, causing losses of more than R$120 in repairs to damaged articulated vehicles. In each accident of this type, it can take an average of four days for a BRT to return to operation, harming the system's passengers.
