Urban Mobility Projects in Rio de Janeiro: Socioeconomic Effects is the theme of the live debate this Tuesday (23/2), at 10 am, promoted by PUC-Rio and BNDES, which will be broadcast live on the BNDES channel on YouTube (youtube.com/bndes). Participating are the municipal secretary of Transportation, Maína Celidonio, and the state secretary of Transportation, Delmo Pinho, in addition to representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the French Development Agency and the National Front of Mayors.

The debate will discuss the results of the assessment of the impact of urban mobility projects in Rio and the recommendations for future projects in the city, in order to guarantee a better quality of life and better services for the population. The research was developed at PUC-Rio, under the coordination of Maína, then professor of Economics at the institution, and was financed by BNDES. The study is an extension of the doctoral thesis of the current secretary, winner of the 2020 Capes Prize in Economics in the country.

The work considered major works carried out in the city, such as the modernization of Supervia, lines 1 and 4 of the Metro, the express corridors of BRT Transcarioca, Transoeste Lote Zero and Transolímpica and the VLT, in addition to the expansion of the Elevado do Joá and the inauguration of the Marcelo Alencar Tunnel.
