In this new phase, the system will operate in approximately 1,2 positions - Press Release
The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Transportation (SMTR), will expand the operation of the Rio Rotativo Digital parking system next Monday (August 24th). In this new phase, the system will operate in approximately 1,200 parking spaces along the São Conrado beachfront, in Barra da Tijuca — between Praia dos Amores and Praça do Ó — and in Tijuca, around Praça Afonso Pena. This expansion represents another step forward in the modernization of public parking management in the city.

Integrated into the Jaé app, the Rio Rotativo Digital system replaces the old paper parking tickets with a fully digital system. The new model allows for payment via mobile phone, electronic enforcement, and real-time monitoring of parking space occupancy, offering greater convenience to drivers, increasing transparency in the use of public space, and promoting vehicle turnover in high-demand areas.

With the new expansion, the Rio Rotativo Digital parking system will operate in approximately 4 parking spaces in different areas of the city. The system already operates around the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and along the beachfront of Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon. In total, 235 parking attendants are registered and qualified to work in the system.

The operation remains the same as adopted since the beginning of the project. When parking in a designated space, the driver must access the Jaé app, select the Rio Rotativo option, confirm the address automatically identified by GPS, enter the vehicle's license plate, and choose the parking period. Payment can be made via Pix or credit card directly through the app.

The fee is R$ 2 for up to two hours of parking, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of six hours, according to the system's rules. After this period, the vehicle will be subject to the regulations stipulated in the Brazilian Traffic Code.

The licensed parking attendants guide drivers on how the system works and how to use the Jaé app. They do not receive any payment from users, as parking time is purchased exclusively through the app.

In addition to assisting drivers, parking attendants help the Municipality collect information on parking space occupancy through the Rio Rotativo Digital technology platform, contributing to the monitoring and improvement of the operation.

Accredited professionals do not have the power to inspect or issue fines. Traffic violation notices continue to be issued exclusively by the traffic authority, based on images and records generated by the technological platform.

The implementation in the new areas also included the installation of specific signage to guide drivers and identify parking spaces covered by the Rio Rotativo Digital system.

Over 103 validations

Initially implemented around the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon on July 17th, the Rio Rotativo Digital parking system continues to expand and, starting Monday, will include approximately 4 parking spaces in different areas of the city.

Since its inception, the system has already recorded over 103 validations of two-hour parking periods. The experience gained from the project has contributed to improving operations and consolidating a more modern, digital, and efficient public parking model, which will be gradually expanded to other areas of the city.
