The Rio City Hall acted promptly at the scene of the accident involving the BRT bus, this Thursday (03/09), at the Interlagos station, in the West Zone. Immediately after the incident, teams from several agencies worked to assist the victims, all of whom were not seriously injured, and to investigate the causes of the accident. Employees from the Municipal Department of Transportation, CET-Rio, the Municipal Guard, Comlurb and Civil Defense were contacted by the Rio Operations Center (COR), which also issued alerts to the population via social media and an app.

The municipal health network treated six people with minor injuries. And a team from the Municipal Department of Social Assistance and Human Rights went to the Lourenço Jorge Hospital, in Barra da Tijuca, to provide support to victims and their families.

CET-Rio tow trucks were used to remove the articulated BRT bus. Municipal guards worked to control traffic at the site.

Agents from the Municipal Department of Transport initially isolated the affected station and provided initial support to the victims and the driver, who acted prudently, preserving the lives of passengers, by avoiding a police vehicle that suddenly entered the BRT lane.

– The City Hall acted in an articulated manner, through coordinated efforts, in this accident which, due to the caution of the BRT driver, did not have disastrous consequences. This shows the importance of keeping the refresher courses and defensive driving courses up to date for the system's drivers. Today, Edinaldo was a hero and saved the lives of around 50 Rio residents who were traveling around the city on a normal day. Finally, the teams acted quickly, completing the removal of the articulated bus involved in the collision, which did not cause major damage to the Interlagos station, at 14:XNUMX p.m. – said the Undersecretary of Transportation, Allan Borges, who remained at the scene during the morning and afternoon.
