The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Transportation, carried out another major operation in the garages of bus companies, in the early hours of this Wednesday (19), focusing on the lines most complained about by the population due to inoperability and circulation with a reduced fleet. The action of the inspectors caused another 34 lines to return to the streets. The day before, another 33 had already resumed operations.

The teams inspected 16 garages: Três Amigos, Campo Grande, Acari, Ideal, Paranapuan, Pégaso/Palmares, Jabour, Barra (two garages), Redentor/Futuro, Transurb, Real, Braso Lisboa, Nossa Senhora de Lourdes, Pavunense and Vila Real. The operation is part of the actions of the Executive Committee, created on an emergency basis, to deal with the bus lines that were not operating due to the granting authority's approval, which worsened during the pandemic.

– With the help of passengers, who register complaints about bus services through the direct channel with SMTR, we are taking specific action on irregularities and demanding that operators comply with their obligations, so that users are not harmed, especially at this time when activities in the city are resuming – highlighted the Secretary of Transportation, Paulo Jobim. The SMTR WhatsApp number for YOU is 98909-3717.

sealed bus

SMTR's energetic action

Line 010 (Fátima x Central – Circular) is among those that resumed operations last Monday and should have been circulating on the streets normally since the morning shift. SMTR inspectors were at the operating company's garage on Wednesday and monitored the departure of vehicles that were operating the route. However, after complaints that the buses were not arriving at the final stop, SMTR took action again and returned to the garage to resolve the issue with the operator. The vehicles then began operating to serve passengers.

The coordinator of the Executive Committee, Undersecretary Allan Borges, reinforced the importance of SMTR's energetic action at this time.

– SMTR agents are working tirelessly and will continue to do so to ensure that the lines return to the streets, as they should. The main objective will always be to promote improvements in the system for the benefit of the people of Rio. Therefore, actions like this will happen regularly – he concluded.
