City government begins testing 100% electric buses in the BRT Connection service.

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Transportation (SMTR) and Mobi-Rio, began this week the testing phase of a 100% electric bus on one of the BRT Connection service lines: line 28 (Pingo D'Água x Terminal Curral Falso). The operational demonstration aims to evaluate the vehicle's performance under real operating conditions, as well as to support the SMTR in defining technical and operational guidelines for future contracts and acquisitions aimed at electrifying the municipal fleet.

The vehicle being tested belongs to the company TEVX Motors Group (Higer brand), selected through a public call for bids held by SMTR in September of last year. In addition to supplying the bus, the company is responsible for providing the necessary infrastructure for recharging and maintenance during the 30-day testing period.

The bus is a standard low-floor model and features a visual pattern similar to that of vehicles operated by Mobi-Rio, with a predominance of the color yellow. As a distinguishing feature, it has green stripes on the sides, highlighting attributes related to sustainability, such as "zero carbon emissions," "cleaner air," and "100% electric."

In the coming weeks, a second 100% electric bus, from the company SNH (Ankai brand), will be incorporated into the Conexão BRT service fleet for a 30-day trial period. The electric vehicle testing cycle, established by SMTR, continues until April 30th. Until that date, other interested companies may participate in the evaluation phase.
