City Hall promotes public hearing on digital ticketing for public transport in Rio next Thursday

The Municipal Department of Transportation (SMTR) will hold a public hearing on the granting of digital ticketing for the public transportation system next Thursday, the 12th. The event, in a hybrid format, will take place at the Rio de Janeiro City Council, from 10 am to 12 pm, and will be open to the public.

– The objective is to make the process transparent, promote broad discussion on the subject, listen to the population, clarify doubts and gather contributions to the project, aiming to ensure public and collective interest in the preparation of the bidding notice, scheduled to be published on September 03rd – stated the Secretary of Transport, Maína Celidonio.

The material with guidelines for the hearing is now available on the SMTR website. In addition to the terms of reference – a project prepared based on preliminary technical studies, the department has attached other documents, such as a glossary, which helps in understanding technical terms involved in the bidding process; a table of performance indicators, which aims to monitor, measure and control the services provided through quarterly assessments; information on the economic and financial model, which details the types of revenue expected; guidelines for the protection of personal data, to preserve the privacy of users; and criteria for the interoperability of ticketing systems, to facilitate integration with different means of transportation. There is also information on the risks of the contract, which discusses the responsibilities of the concessionaire and the granting authority, which is the city of Rio.

Interested parties can also access a form on the same page, which will be available until August 25, to comment on the contract or ask questions about the terms of reference and the annexes of the digital ticketing bidding process. Participation in the public hearing may be in person, limited to the number of seats available, or virtual, through the City Council's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmkgkpuRbUGzwLSpnV2nevQ).
