SMTR publishes tender notice for construction of BRT garage in Deodoro

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Transportation (SMTR), published, this Wednesday (26/10), the bidding notice for the construction of the BRT System bus depot in Deodoro. The bidding will open on November 25, at 11 am, at the SMTR headquarters, in Cidade Nova. The total estimated value of the bid is R$ 19,4 million. The winning company will be responsible for providing engineering services and executing the works within 150 days.

The construction of the garage is part of the BRT requalification process, for which the system's operation bidding process is scheduled for the coming months. Among other anticipated advantages, the garages will be made available to the operator by the City Hall already adapted for the provision of the service, which will allow for greater competitiveness.

In addition to Deodoro, the BRT System will have garages in Curicica, Ramos, Cascadura and Paciência.

In order to accelerate the recovery of the BRT, the City Hall has already acquired 291 new vehicles for the system, 220 of which are articulated and 71 are standard buses. One articulated bus has already been delivered and presented to the press at the end of September. The remaining vehicles, purchased in bids held in April and May 2022, will be delivered between November of this year and March 2023.

SMTR also intends to purchase 270 new articulated buses for the BRT. The electronic auction will take place on November 3 and the vehicles, with a minimum capacity for 180 passengers, are expected to begin being delivered from November 2023 until March 2024, distributed in five batches.
