Rio de Janeiro School of Tourism opens new free course to qualify tour guides.

The program has already trained more than 2 people in three years - Alexandre Macieira / Riotur The Carioca School of Tourism is now accepting applications for new classes. Developed by the Municipal Tourism Secretariat in partnership with Senac, the course focuses on training tour guides. Classes are free and begin on June 10th, with two locations available: downtown and Copacabana.
Registration can be done on the website turismo.prefeitura.rio/escolacariocadeturismo/. There are 40 places available and new classes will be opened until the end of the year. To participate, guides must be registered in the Ministry of Tourism's Register of Tourism Service Providers (Cadastur) and be residents of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The course, lasting two months, is divided into six subjects: Hospitality; Social media strategies; Photography with a cell phone; First steps to entrepreneurship; Next steps to entrepreneurship: structuring and management; and Basic notions of first aid.
In three years, the program – which trains professionals for the tourism market – has already benefited more than 2 people. In this phase, the course is aimed at guides, professionals responsible for welcoming, guiding, and conveying the hospitality and culture of Rio de Janeiro to visitors.
