The Rio de Janeiro City Hall officially launched RIOFW – Rio Fashion Week, this Tuesday (12/16), at the City Palace. The new fashion week will be held between April 15th and 18th, 2026, and will mark the return of major fashion shows to the city, with a total of 30 presentations. The event will be part of the Official Brazilian Fashion Calendar and will take place at Pier Mauá, in the Port Region.

– We created the Fashion Council, regrouped the sector, and involved sectors of society. All so that we could once again have a platform for the development of this industry, which is so important to Rio. Rio Fashion Week is an event that brings centrality to Rio. We have a very strong industry that has captured the world's imagination, generates opportunities, and encourages new entrepreneurs – stated the vice-mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere.

The launch event, held at the City Palace, was attended by important representatives of the fashion industry, such as Isabela Capeto, Oskar Metsavaht, Thomaz Azulay of The Paradise, and Sharon Azulay of Blueman, among others. RIOFW will be organized by IMM, which also owns SPFW – São Paulo Fashion Week. The aim is to establish Rio as the fashion capital of the country.

– Today is a very special day for Rio de Janeiro and Brazilian fashion. It's been over ten years without a fashion platform in Rio, a city with a history of success in this area. Iconic brands were built here. So, this return is fundamentally important for the entire industry and for the city's economy. It's an event that will bring job opportunities, generate income, and boost tourism, as well as take Rio's image to the world – said IMM CEO, Alan Adler.

Rio Fashion Week is already a landmark event for the national fashion industry. The initiative will bring together major brands and established names in the sector, boosting the entire production and business chain. The expectation is for an economic impact exceeding R$ 200 million, in addition to generating approximately 8 direct and indirect jobs.

The event will integrate fashion, culture, gastronomy, wellness, music, and personalities, providing the public with an experience that goes beyond the catwalks. In the social sphere, the proposal includes investments in training programs for young people to work in the fashion industry. Furthermore, RIOFW has the potential to generate up to R$1 billion in free media coverage for the city of Rio de Janeiro. The goal is to project the image of the city and Brazilian fashion worldwide.

"It's been years since we've had a fashion week in the most desirable city in the world. Fashion trends originate here. This is a very important event for the economy of any city. For Rio de Janeiro, it will be fundamental and spectacular. We will give international visibility to our fashion," declared the municipal secretary of Tourism, Daniela Maia.
